Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one go, without having to switch devices. They can also help save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but take it easy in the spare bedroom. robot vacuum cleaner amazon has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can't. Its only minor issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's avoided.
A large LCD screen on the docking station informs the maintenance tasks that must be completed like emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can operate for 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. And you can see the complete cleaning details within the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand although we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. This year's model has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power which allows it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles as a child-lock and a home-button that can bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.
The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. You'll need to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows users to tailor and effectively clean while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and dust. It also has a high-quality mop that makes hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.
Another notable feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. The robot can also reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it an ideal option for apartments with small spaces or condos. The side brush automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice touch that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by repeated back-andforth movements.
In contrast to other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can also be programmed to avoid areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is simple and easy to use, and the X40's smart features are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it gets overflowing, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It does have several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles and pick up spills and dirt-stained spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a system we've yet to see on other robot vacuum and mop models, and it could be a useful method of keeping your home clean for longer.
There's a plethora of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust a variety of preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and has a lot of options for customizing the cleaning routine, and there are a lot of functions that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles, instead of relying on an individual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen in the market, sporting metallic and white design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy either, and it feels robust and well built. Mopping is well-designed and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend up to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice addition.
